WFoL, let's take a look at the numbers cited in that article. For the week ending on November 6, 2021, here are the death tolls:

COVID-related: 195 (13%)
Other causes: 1350 (87%)

A year prior to that date:

COVID-related: 336 (20%)
Other causes: 1319 (80%)

That roughly corresponds to the nationwide excess death rates in 2020 (+13.6%) and 2021 (+14.7%).

I see nothing in that article that contradicts what I have said thus far.
