Funny Business With Vax Numbers in Bavaria

January 8, 2022

The management of Gates of Vienna is shocked — shocked! — to discover that the Bavarian government has been fudging its Corona statistics to make the incidence of the disease among the “unvaccinated” look higher than it is.

Many thanks to Hellequin GB for translating this article from Tichys Einblick:

Bavarian Office Releases Raw Data

Söder under pressure: Incidence of unvaccinated people manipulated

The Bavarian state government has apparently mixed the incidence figures of unvaccinated people and people with an unknown vaccination status. The responsible state authority has now published the raw data that confirm this suspicion. The first calls for the resignation of Markus Söder are loud.

The allegations against the Bavarian state government of misrepresenting the incidence of Corona in the state have been confirmed. On Friday morning, the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) published the raw data on the incidence of vaccinated and unvaccinated people, on which the government’s assessments were based. Bavaria’s Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) claimed in a tweet on November 18, 2021 that the incidence of vaccinated people was 110 and that of unvaccinated people was 1,469.

The state government used these figures to justify its policy of measures. However, the data from the LGL do not support this presentation. The WELT journalist Tim Röhn pointed out that the incidence of those who were vaccinated (9,320 cases) was 109.7 in the period at that time, the incidence of those who were not vaccinated (14,252 cases) was 333.8. Apparently, the 62,722 cases with unknown vaccination status were entirely attributed to the unvaccinated.

The LGL published the figures as the WELT threatened to take legal action. To justify why the office allocated the cases with an unknown status to the unvaccinated, the Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek explained: “It made sense to identify the reported cases with an unknown vaccination status together with the group of the unvaccinated. In this way, the LGL was able to ensure that the numbers were closer to reality than would have been the case if the group of unknowns had been omitted.”

Bavaria justified corona measures with the incidence of the unvaccinated. At the end of November, Bavaria imposed massive restrictions on unvaccinated people in everyday life. The SPD and FDP accused the LGL and the state government of conveying a false sense of security with a distorted incidence among vaccinated persons and of deceiving the public. A spokesman defended himself in response to the DPA news agency on Friday: “Even if the number shown in this way was understood as a pure ‘unvaccinated incidence’, this method was superior to omitting the unknowns over the entire period of publication.”

The Bundestag vice-president and deputy chairman of the FDP, Wolfgang Kubicki, demanded the resignation of the Bavarian prime minister because of the Bavarian number games. He told Welt am Sonntag: “Either Markus Söder wanted to paint a crooked picture of the risk of infection from unvaccinated people and thus officially stigmatize a group of people — or he has no control over his business. Either one is sufficient reason to resign.”

Afterword from the translator:

In the past, a politician would have resigned in the face of such revelations, but today’s global “princes” and “vice-regents” such as Söder or Tschentscher (Hamburg) see their misconduct as trivialities, so neither backbone nor decency are to be expected.
