I'm generally of the opinion that there's no such thing as stopping at being 'good enough to compete'.

If AMD could bring out a 5000+ today I'd like to see them do it even if they then couldn't bring out a higher rated part for the next year.

I'd like to see them do that even if it took a new mask set ($40M?) and only produced *ONE* good die per wafer($4K each?).

Limited production run, 500 available per quarter. $4500/copy. Pure advertising. Lose money on each one and *OWN* the high end. Like Winchester's 'One of 1000' series back in the late 1800s, early 1900s.

I've been of the opinion that AMD's been demand limited for the last 4 years at least. Perhaps that's about to stop even as production ramps.
