LOL... the OHMIGAWD road isn't really a short cut to anywhere. It will take you over to I-70 but it's not for sissies. I haven't driven it in years but I doubt it's much different today. It turns into a dirt surface shortly out of Central City and climbs up near timberline before dropping down into Idaho Springs. Scenic trip to be sure, just dusty and dirty as all get out. A couple of years ago they cut a nice "freeway" type highway from Idaho Springs over to C.City in hopes of helping the gambling casinos in that town. Previously, it was much easier to get from Denver to Blackhawk for gambling, so people just didn't bother passing on through the additional mile for C. City. This really hasn't helped all that much, but it sure made C. City more accessible. I haven't been up that way since they legalized gambling, many years ago. Expensive homes, for sure.
