REQUEST: I'm becoming increasingly lost in the architectures both hardware and software and in the coming standards and standards wars.

I hate to ask this...

but what would really help me... what I'd actually like... is a concise definition of each tech, along with a short description of the advantages and disadvantages of each. Like a tiny Wiki. And it would be nice if it were regularly updated. I would like it in place of the original post so I could turn it on or off for reference as I try to wade through understanding all the techs.

It would also be nice to have a quick synopsis of the major platforms although I'm not sure if it could all be fit in. Architectures on the outs could be deleted as there is no money there.

I'm really not qualified to do this so what I'm asking is kind of selfish although I would contribute what I could and I know beggars can't be choosy.

Something like:

iPhone - Huge apps store gives advantage, as does snappy Objective C coding. Best interface. Limited models. Slow ATT network an albatross.

CDMA - blah blah, most popular standard in this country

(see how confused I am?)
