China Unicom and China Telecom both signed new agreements for the iPhone 4S this year too. Apple is the only company that can pave the way for success to 4G. ATT 3G was a total disaster before the iPhone came along. No handset maker has been able to generate much excitement for 4G so far. Apple will pave for 4G just like they did with 3G with ATT. Apple will get another 2 years worth of hefty subsidy premiums as carriers maintain high cap ex spending on their 4G investments to get that thing rolling. I don't think carriers will be so eager to upgrade people with existing contracts like they did last year. But, Apple still has plenty of new carriers to introduce the iPhone this year.
