Apr 03, 1997 (12:30 PM EST) - The Motley Fool Lunchtime News ASCEND COMMUNICATIONS (Nasdaq: ASND) gained $2 to $42 3/8 and merger partner CASCADE COMMUNICATIONS (Nasdaq: CSCC) moved up $2 5/8 to $28 3/4 after Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette started coverage of Ascend with a "buy" rating, which it also awarded to ATM and frame relay switch maker NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS (NYSE: NN).
