Why not some compromise where for every $10 of aid one gets they do 1 hr of community service starting with picking up trash at schools, painting over graffiti, cleaning bird dropping off sidewalks, etc.... all the services we can't seem to afford these days...

I went to Singapore and found it was one of the most beautiful cities/countries I'd seen. I was told everyone there had to do "something" if they get public assistance. Provides min wag jobs to those who can't do any better AND it provides incentive to those with more skills to move on to better jobs.
