I believe the metal is there. If I sell my house soon enough (not something I'm doing specifically to get IPMCF shares by the way) maybe I'll up my total to 500 or 1000 again.
Has anyone noticed that the critical posts are now in the line of "is this doable" instead of "is this real?"
BTW (off topic): I'm thinking of moving to Phoenix. Is housing affordable? Up here in the Seattle area it's about $500 for a 6 or 700 sq foot apartment.
I think you should be able to get a two bedroom/one bath for that here, in a decent area. If you want a house in my neighborhood (Arrowhead Ranch, an upper-middle/lower-upper class development) I saw the same the model of house that I have (two story, stucco, tile roof, two ground heat pumps, three bed + loft, 2-1/2 bath, just under 2500 square feet on a small lot) except with a golf-course lot renting at just under $1000 per month. I believe this is a low rental and that it should go for between $1100 and $1200. My house would probably sell for about $150,000 to $160,000 if I ever completed my landscaping.
There are much cheaper areas and much, much more expensive and exclusive ones (esp in Scottsdale). There are some 1-acre lots (not covered with water to a depth of one foot :-) with custom homes in another section of the development that are around half a million. There are a few 3,000+ sqft 6-bedroom homes down in the slums with me, but I have no idea on price.
On the desireability scale I'd say that Arrowhead is a 7 or 8. Supposed to be a very good school system, from what I understand. |
