Today's DBC:"Soundview Financial analyst Scott Randall says 1998 will be a good year for the group, but investors will have to be tough to hang in during the interim. "It takes a lot of fortitude today, but these are probably the prices and the time that you want to step up and be counted, because I think you're going to look pretty smart in the next few months," Randall said.
"I think right now, in the very short term, companies like Altera who had great Junes and great Marches, probably built up a little bit of inventory broadly across some of their customers," Randall said. "That was, I think, proven out by some of their report, which suggested that each of the segments, they're all down about a percent quarter-on-quarter." Altera rose 9/16 to 50 7/16 following its report of a third-quarter profit of 40 cents per share, two cents ahead of analysts' views. " dbc.com
