gottfried,

"When a web page loads slowly I ALWAYS blame it on that web site's server"

i routinely encounter slowdowns such as this, and i just as routinely go into netscape preferences and with several quick clicks, i dump all memory and disk cache. this inevitably speeds up the page filling.

just like in that piece i posted from michael mckenney when he states that he can tell when he is hitting the swap file (that's saying something!), i can usually tell when these cache fields need to be cleared. and for grins, i check the actual numbers first (by typing about:cache in the url window) to see if i am right.

"SI is often very slow whereas other sites zoom"

yes. as soon as i encounter a slow si, i immediately try other sites.

:)
