I agree completely. Unfortunately, I am arguing with people who are profoundly stupid so I must use analogies. To me, it was perfectly obvious that the Iraqis would shoot us out of the country, but there were a lot of people going on about how much military power we had, or how different Iraq was from Vietnam. As a reminder, after I wrote: "Human history is filled with examples of people who fought against invaders for decades. All that it takes is hope", your response was:

Well here it is 1 one year on, a growing US troop presence in Iraq, an accelerating casualty rate, and no sign of a drop in hope or determination on the side of the insurgents. Hey, maybe we would win if we just stuck it out for a few decades.
