You usually don't even have to lug your own laptop.

You can walk into a variety of "cyberCafe's" or even public libraries in many parts of the world and get internet access. Sometimes for free even. Usually there's a relatively steep charge by the 1/2 hour but much better than paying Iridium's wireless rates.
