No matter what road is pursued, layoffs will happen and wages/perks will be cut. We are going through a recession and a deep one. Your apparent solution does not work. Sure people will buy cars from a chapter 11 company, just like they did during Chrysler's chapter 11 days. That is a scare tactic be spread. The warranty issue can be taken care of by the government. And unemployment compensation will need to be extended. These are not deal breakers. And it wont be for free.

It also means mass layoffs, car sales going off a cliff, breakdown of consumer confidence, and prolongation and deepening of the recession.

Most of us know the difference between the various BK options.
Most of us will not buy cars from a BK manufacturer.
