Yes, I look at FPA. Not so much Fairholme. I like to pick my own entry and exit points for each stock, so I'm not interested in buying the funds themselves. Perhaps though I would do better if I just bought the funds.
I'm not interested in DO. I already have enough with ESV, ATW (in Capital fund) and NE. (Plus several other oil service stocks) Also not interested in BRKS. Doesn't appeal to me on either a value or a growth basis, as I look at it (brief look). Jmo, and I've been wrong many, many times.
Some comments on my positions vs. Capital. I hold a few shares of ARW & AVT (no's 1&2 by % of the fund). Those stocks look pricey to me. I've reduced position and am considering selling more. I added to my position in ROSE (Capital's 5.9% holding): Losing position for me. I'm considering adding more as stock falls.
IDCC (12th ranked in fund): I sold at loss. Am considering reentering.
ARRS (reportedly fund added more a/o Dec report). I have just recently started a tracking position.
AAN (fund reported it upped position 671%!). Yikes, what happened to me here? -g- I had an open order. Closed it couple days ago when I became concerned about the viability of rent-to-buy companies. Today AAN received a buyout offer.
TWI: Holding on to my losing position.
===== Crescent: I sold MSFT (fund's no 1 holding) before its run up. CVS: I sold my position (fund's no 3). P/e seems high to me. (Have also cut back on WAG which is also in the fund) AIG & C: I've added to them recently. Am considering adding more. (small positions for me) ORKLY: still considering it. Nice conglomerate with brands -- not such great roe or profit margins, it seems. TSCDF, INTC, QCOM, BAC,OXY, FL,ORCL: I'm holding. INTC/QCOM reported by fund in Dec as buys.
DV -- am still holding some shares. APOL though, I erred and gave up and sold before its run up.
RGS reported as a buy by fund in Dec. I can't figure the attraction of that one (brand name and sustainable business maybe --- financial numbers don't look so attractive to me though) |
