Our new Vietnamese citizens and others from that part of the world work so hard (most of them) and we very seldom hear of crimes coming from those relatively new Americans.

It gets a lot of people. I was active in Vietnamese placement when the everything came apart in the '70s. I lived about 15 miles from the relocation camp in Camp Pendelton. A Family of 6 were put up with friends of mine, and I found fast food jobs for the teenagers the first week. A month later they had relocated to Florida and gone on welfare. Some Vietnamese friends from there called them and told them about it.

But you are right, most of them made it. My Auto Repair guy in Mission Viejo spent 5 years in the Viet Cong reeducation camps before he got out and came here to make a success of himself.

Five years after the Vietnamese got here, almost every Valedictorian of our Local High Schools in Orange County was a Vietnamese.
