I picked this school because I helped design their first network and setup their Internet connection back in 90-91, but it is representative of the suburban high schools.

64% White
23% Asian
9% Hispanic
4% African American

Garfield in Seattle is:

47% White
30% Black
16% Asian
6% Hispanic

Now at Elementary they also track a very telling stat - percentage of Free or reduced price lunches. Some parts of Seattle are at 70%, no part of the burbs seems to get past 25% and some like Mercer Island approach 0.

So yes the Asian influx has put some non-white faces in the crowd, but diversity used to be a black/white thing.
