High-rolling Elton John seeks big loan - paper
LONDON, June 26 (Reuters) - Sir Elton John, Britain's most flamboyant rock star, is in talks with a London finance house to secure a 25 million pound ($40 million) loan, The Sunday Times said.
The 52-year-old singer is believed to be offering financiers at Samuel Montagu his huge back catalogue of hits as security. The bank would also be entitled to revenues from future earnings if the debt remains unpaid, the newspaper said.
The singer, who last year was said in media reports to be spending as much as 250,000 pounds ($400,000.00 ) a week on his credit cards, has also agreed to offer his four homes in Britain, France and America as further collateral.
''It is believed much of the money will be used to pay off debts in America and Britain, including a seven million pounds overdraft with a big high street bank,'' The Sunday Times said.
