I think things will be much clearer at the end of this
week due to CEBit. We'll finally get to see the K6, and
possibly the M2, side-by-side with Pentium-II. What will be
significant is what OEMs will be demoing using what chips.
Intel will probably have all the major OEMs demoing Pentium II.
But, who will be demoing a K6?? Also, AMD said they will
NOT announce any customers at this conference. Hmmmm. Makes
me think they have no big names lined up yet, even for laptop.
AMD advocates will argue for the element of surprise. I don't
buy that. K6 will be released in just a few weeks. Its late
enough in the game that if they had a major OEM lined up,
they would make sure that news leaked to the press. Anyway,
if we don't hear any of these "rumors" this week, game over
for K6. Also, AMD said they were going to have a huge marketing
blitz in March to promote the launch. Anyone see anything yet?

just my opinions,
joey
