The subsidence issue is a lot more complicated than simply blaming oil for it. Recent speculation is that the weight of the water is partially responsible for it, too.

The issue is being studied at UNO; I don't buy the simplistic notion that Big Bad Oil is responsible 100% for it, an idea I think Morton peddles.

You may want to check this site for the UNO work which is being done. Give it a whirl, I think you might be convinced that Big Bad Oil is only one component of a very complex picture:

The Caernavaron initiative is interesting, and sounds like a great idea but the article is outdated because the lawsuit which lead to the ludicrous award to the oyster fishermen has been reversed, and I doubt that we will see any more insanity like it in the future as everyone is simply much too aware of the need to protect wetlands.
