Norway: Muslim migrant stabs his wife and one other person

There is, of course, domestic violence in all cultures. So to post this is just “Islamophobic,” right? Wrong: there is domestic violence in all cultures, but only in one does it have divine sanction. Islam doesn’t teach that man may kill his wife, but once you’ve allowed him to beat her, accidents will happen.

And why another victim, apparently a random one? There’s that culture of violence again.

The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34

Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127

An another hadith states: “Rifa`a divorced his wife whereupon `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. `Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Messenger came, Aisha said, ‘I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!’” — Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825

“Syrian man stabs wife and a man in Norway domestic dispute, police say,” Reuters, May 20, 2022:

OSLO, May 20 (Reuters) – A Syrian man stabbed and wounded his wife and another man in a small village in southeast Norway on Friday, police said, adding that the attack was a domestic dispute and there was no danger to others.

The two victims and the attacker were all wounded in the attack, which had triggered a major response by emergency services fearing a larger incident, and one of the victims was in a critical condition, police said.

“The initial victim was a woman married to the attacker,” a police spokesperson told reporters. “There is no longer danger to other people.”

Officials initially said at least four people were injured in what had first appeared to be a random, ongoing attack.

“This is a family from Syria where the perpetrator is married to one of the victims,” police said in a separate statement….

“Three people injured in stabbing in Numedal,” translated from “Tre personer skadet i knivstikking i Numedal,” NRK, May 20, 2022 (thanks to Medforth):

Police say in a press release that the perpetrator, who has been arrested, is married to one of the victims. The woman who has been described as critically injured is now out of danger.

The case is being updated.

The accused’s wife was perceived as critically injured. We have now received an update on it. And she’s out of danger. She is still in the hospital and has been treated, but she has no life-threatening injuries, says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit.

Three people were injured in connection with a stabbing that happened early Friday morning. A perpetrator and two victims have sustained injuries after the incident.

According to NRK, the stabbing took place outdoors in the center of the small town of Nore.

Close by is a bus stop, the local Joker store and the high school.

This is confirmed by Kjøpmannshuset, which operates the Joker stores in Norway, and by Brakar, which operates the buses in the area.

Several students at the high school are said to have witnessed what happened.

The crisis team has started working with children and young people at Rødberg school, and at the upper secondary school. That was the first priority, says Jan Gaute Bjerke, mayor of Nore and Uvdal.

The police write in a press release that there is a family relationship between the perpetrator and one of the victims.

“We can now confirm that there is a family relationship between the perpetrator and the one stabbed. The perpetrator and one victim, a woman, are married,” says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit.

The woman who was described as critically injured was flown to Ullevål for treatment. The perpetrator also received minor injuries during the incident.

The man, who is from Syria, was banned from visiting in December, after violence in close relationships the month before. He has so far not broken the visit ban, Kostveit continues.

The perpetrator and the injured woman have several children together. These are now taken care of by the police and resources from the child welfare service.

A third person is slightly injured and is receiving treatment at Drammen Hospital.

The Ministry of Justice writes on Twitter a little before half past twelve that the Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Emilie Enger Mehl has been informed of the incident.

“My thoughts go to those who have been injured and their loved ones. Such acts of violence are serious and despairing. I want to thank the emergency personnel and the municipality who are facing a demanding time,” says Mehl.

When the police received the first emergency calls about the dramatic incident, they immediately referred to it as PLIVO – so-called “ongoing, life-threatening violence.”

NRK has spoken to a person who lives in the area. It again spoke to a witness who described the dramatic situation. The witness says several people tried to stop the perpetrator.

“There was a lot of blood there,” the resident said to NRK….
