I never used to have problems with Ameritrade. It was best when they were still ebroker--hardly anybody used them and I got prompt fill reports. Not anymore. Its taking them hours to get those fill reports out. I'm finding myself having to call them on each and every trade to find out what the story is. I need a Datek account. What is it?--no fill in 30 seconds and its on them? That's what I need--and there's no human involvement.

My latest AMTD story is yesterday I buy CPQ for $29. Took several hours to get a confirmation--I had to get it by calling them (as usual 15 minutes on the phone). Always heavy call volume. So then I put in a day stop order that should have expired yesterday. Then I put in a limit order to sell today at $29 5/8 and I see yesterday's order still being active. So I'm on the phone again to them to find out what the deal is. They change the stop order to expired and three hours later I still don't have confirmation on selling at $29 5/8.

On options expiration last week I had written covered puts on a short position on VIAS. I was assigned on the puts--no big deal, but they didn't flatten my account. I had shares of VIAS both short and long. So I call them up and tell them to flatten it. They tell me they need to transfer me to somebody else to do it. So I get transfered and a computer says, "Our regular hours are such and such.." and I get disconnected. Next day I call again and talk to a live broker. Another 15 minute wait. The brokers says, "I'lll get that right over to the margin department". I put in an order hours later to buy AMD (which would have been filled at the low of the day). The order get s cancelled because I was up against margin limits because they didn't flatten the VIAS position like they said. I then had to call back again (another 15 minutes on the phone) to get the position flattened. I missed out on a 10% gain on AMD.
