Another perk about running an internet server on thhe Mac OS is security. Thus far, the things are impossible to hack into.

I went to a seminar sponsored by the folks who put out Webbstar server software and tey claim that unlike Windows, or even Unix, there is no command level that a remote user can get into (like DOS) from which they can wrestle control of the server.

So confident they are about this unadvertized feature of the Mac, that they have challenged the hackers of the world to break into their system and retrieve a particular file. I think this chalenge is in it's fourth year and no one has yet accomplished it. They've had the offer taken by the entire computer science department at MIT (it's rumored).

So confident ae they, that they are thinking of upping the reward from $5,000 to $10,000 this year.

Anyone want to try?
