Hi Mike,

Pleased to make your acquaintance and thanks for your response to my post #13520.

Regarding the idea that "salting (was) being done by someone else.... .......", I have already implied that in para 5 of my post. If salting was never done, (afterall, why bother with it when there is an 'easier' way) it was entirely possible the assay results were systematically fudged and the samples given to Barrick were 'doctored' ones. If ever this was the case, then the culprit(s) involved will have to be identified. Maybe the culprit(s) was/were responsible for the mysterious fire that occurred in January.

Whether or not Mike de Guzman was involved, in any way with the hanky-panky, is debatable. However, if he was involved, it is easy to understand he was murdered so he would not be able to "sing" to the investigators. On the other hand, the perpetrators might have thought he was smart enough (don't forget Guzman's near-genius I.Q) to be able to identify them. Since dead men tell no tales, he had to be 'offed'.

A possible (albeit a most unlikely) reason why Guzman (aged 41) suicided himself had to do with the women (4 of them, including a 22-year-old) in his life. I have known of several cases of men who had been driven to the edge by women who made them feel terribly inadequate or terribly guilty about something real or imagined. With due respect to the deceased, I do not wish to comment further.

Your suggestion that Barrick is still keen on Bre-X and is probably continuing with covert negotiations with Hasan or Suharto is very interesting. But I find it hard to buy that. But then, one can never know for sure.

You can easily see in my posts, elsewhere in this Bre-X thread, I am inclined to the view that a well orchestrated attempt is underway to 'destroy' Bre-X so that it could be picked up on the cheap eventually.

I don't think Bre-X shares are as 'worthless' as they now seem to be.
Rightly or wrongly, I still think there is some gold (probably not as much as 71 MM oz) there at Busang. We will know by 29th April unless someone leaks the news out sooner.
