Google Tablet: Finally Some Competition for Apple’s iPad Says Analyst
I wish I had a share of AAPL for every time I've seen a story with a headline similar to that one. "Finally, some competition for the iPod." "Finally, some competition for the iPhone." "Finally, some competition for the iPad."

Do these people imagine that all the companies that have made tablets since the introduction of the iPad were not competing with it? That the iPad has been all alone in the market?

There have been plenty of other tablets offered in competition with the iPad, from the biggest names in the business. The only company that has had any significant success is Amazon, and they did it by selling their product at a loss.

I'm sure the Google tablet will be a lovely product in many ways, just as the Samsung Galaxy Tab was, and a bunch of other also-rans. I'm sure some people will buy it instead of buying iPads.
I've said this before in response to similar stories, and I'll say it again. Competition? Bring it on.
