Its really the triumph of design. Not to say its the triumph of design over engineering, but the attitude that design is a secondary discipline that can be done by engineers. Particularly usability and conceptual design.

Its just amazing that the tech industry STILL cannot seem to get this right... except Apple... which is the glaring example of the importance of design usability.

One would think they would all look at Apple and go "We need to do what they did."

I guess they do but they just don't get it. Still have that glass room mentality.

But what gets me is Google. They started out with respect for design usability and admiration for Apple. But it seems to me they've reverted to that engineers are everything mentality. Google just keeps getting worse and worse and the fixes are so stone simple...

One of my best friends is an engineer, one of the best (he was on our list of best when I was a recruiter). He worked for Peter Norman before Norman became ultra-rich. He's amazing, but he definitely doesn't get it when it comes to design principles. Just clueless.

I remember thinking that the triumph of design was only a matter of time back in the day. It was frustrating to see Windows win the war temporarily.
