FYI under the new tax law, shorting aginst the box can no longer be used as a method of deferring the taxable event of a short term gain. The IRS classifies a short against the box as a constructive sale and gives it the same tax treatment as if you had sold the corresponding long position. Christopher, Thank you for that information. I see no other advantage using a short against the box. Could someone fill me in as to the advantage at present? Glenn
