>There is nothing lucky about buying solid companies that are fundamentally grossly undervalued....>
Are you kidding? In the long term, USRX would have been fine--no luck involved---I always said that, just like you. The luck, was for the short-term--that COMS is buying USRX. That had nothing to do with fundamentals, valuations, etc. For the short term, you got lucky with the merger news. I don't see how you can even argue about this.
>This stock was clearly in an uptrend before the the COMS announcement.>
Since when does 3 days make a trend? Anyway, the networking sector helped USRX immensely by being moderately strong. Notice, that essentially all of the networkers have done well this week. Not just USRX.
>You kept telling everyone that this wasn't the time to buy USRX yet you didn't have the guts to put your money where you mouth was by shorting it.>
This is absurd. I told you guys that it was likely to be in a trading range, with a moderate downward bias--not really worth shorting. I also said that this week, we'd see dead-cat bounce (remember? I told you to bookmark that post, and/or print it out)), so if anything, I would have been long (see one of my posts from Monday morning, where I said I was looking to buy USRX (no, I didn't)). BTW, with this big news, the fundamentals of the networkers have changed--so I will be re-positioning my stance on the sector.
>Your advice with respect to USRX has been terrible and those who have followed it lost a great opportunity to buy a great company at a great price.>
Fred, I sold my shares at $69 in January, and said that "there is no reason to own the stock at this point (for shorter-term people)." Maybe you should look at the chart--USRX went down.
Since you don't seem to remember, I also stated (many times) that USRX was quite undervalued, "but that isn't going to stop it from becoming overly-undervalued" as the networkers went down.
>Those who purchases based on fundamentals are going to be well rewarded. This would have happened with or without COMS.>
Sure would have! In the long term. Are you confused or something? I think everyone else knows that my views are stated from a short-term perspective.
By the way, I'm interested to hear your take on the merger: Would you have preferred USRX to stay independant? Do you think it would have done better over the long-haul as a single entity?
