(AP): Col. Henry Whitehorn, chief of the Louisiana State Police, said he heard of numerous instances of New Orleans police officers - many of whom from flooded areas - turning in their badges.
"They indicated that they had lost everything and didn't feel that it was worth them going back to take fire from looters and losing their lives," Whitehorn said.
I published this in Dec 2001.
On page 16, 2nd para, I wrote, "At local levels, very few if any government officials are highly trained for these catastrophes. If they are trained, and an attack occurs in their area threatening them and their family's lives, they will probably seek safety first..."
There are numerous others...i.e. On page 31, I wrote, Be prepared to pay $5-$10 per gallon for gasoline. Have sufficient cash on hand to get you to your family rendezvous locations.
Eighteen months later, Tom Ridge covered this too. There are four places in the Ready.gov website where it clearly states, "Local authorities may not be able to advise you."
Msm is screaming about what the government is not doing. I have yet to hear a reporter screaming about the lack of individual preparedness.
My hope now is that those who got my little invention, "The One Minute Fallout Zone Calculator", won't ever need it. uw |
