You are kidding right? And you cannot discern between tribal and religious loyalties. It doesn't matter what you call it. Tell me which country in the ME my broad brush paints incorrectly and tribal loyalties are not so important.?

Whether its tribal or religious what I am saying is that that's secondary to the real issue: al-Assad is a brutal dictator who is killing and torturing his people and systematically destroying his country so that he can remain in power.

Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordon, Turkey, Afghanistan. Name one.

The only country with tribes are the desert countries of Libya and Saudi Arabia. The rest have religious differences not unlike the differences between Christians and Jews, or within Christianity the difference between Catholics and Protestants. The feuding between Sunnis and Shia is much like the feuding between Catholics and Protestants in N. Ireland. On the surface it looks like a religious war but underneath its more economic. Like the N. Irish Protestants, the Sunnis are the more prosperous sect with the Shia much like N. Irish Catholics.......except of course in Iran where they are the dominant religion.

Tribal loyalties run strong in every one of those countries and millions of people are moving around trying to find their tribes and peace. Millions in Iraq when to other countries. Egypt is in a full blown civil war between Islamists and the secular folks and the Islamists are killing the non Islamists.

Its not tribal.


PS Syria has many different tribes and they are all killing each other.

Name the tribes.
