Maybe this will help. Remember the old story that if you get 10 people in a circle and start a story at one end then listen to the version that came out the other. LOL Sometomes over exuberence takes hold.

Here is SI Bob's reply to my PM about the matter. Perhaps Mike heard what he wanted to here or didn't listen to Tim very closely. In the End...does it really matter?

Regards,
Gregg

Subject: Re: Suspension

Who's spreading a rumor that Tim Luke has been "permanently suspended"? It simply is not the case.

He was suspended for 3 days for 3 blatantly profane posts, one of which was a personal attack against another member. He suggested that I permanently terminate his account, but I haven't done so, as I don't see any reason to do so outside of his wanting it.

Considering the number of people emailing me about Tim's "permanent
suspension", the way in which he violated the Terms of Use prior to his suspension (in a way he's been warned about and suspended for before), and the fact that he emailed me suggesting I terminate his account, I get the feeling some kind of game is going on here that I haven't been clued in about.

I'm aware of his popularity and the value of his contributions to the site. It wouldn't be fair, though, to not suspend him for something I would suspend anyone else for. And it would be difficult for you to name any other popular poster who hasn't been suspended before if they've done the same thing. Or less.

SI Admin (Bob)

In fact, he's been quite a model of decorum for SI. Yes, he's regressed a little but not so much as those that you've admonished in the past which are still on SI. Those few that have complained have not even come close to contributing to the success of SI as Tim has.
