In fairness to Steve, he was responding to the allegation that NM accepted a $1mil check for a story plant-- I also find this hard to believe.

Beyond that, the Northern Manor, as I described in my post #13664, has stepped out of their bounds as fitting to their coverage of the mining industry. They should not feel at liberty to 'scoop' a story (esp. insufficiently researched and confirmed ones!). And since they don't publish again for a week, their printed words remain unaccountable, meaning they should therefore practice due caution in what they print.... I don't feel that they have. For example, this current damaging story has been disproven the very same day that it was printed in the NM (or at least the next day), but the article stays and hits the mail system Monday (in the NM).

Again, Mike, just to qualify for Fred Ketchen on CBC BusinessWorld, he reported that he HEARD a rumour that ABX was buying BXM, but that he didn't know. For that matter, the rumour may have originated on this thread. I don't know whether they are or not, but let's try to stick to more substanciated claims here (unless stated as such to be pure and unsupported rumour). Let's not pull an NM!
