Vincent, I can't answer all of your points.

Did you notice how this mixes the performance of the top of the range system with the bottom of the range price?

I'm not an expert on the various viewperf benchmarks. CDRS-03 is CAD derived benchmark from E&S and is a mixture of triangle strips and wireframe lines - it is probably the simplest of the viewperf benchmarks. DRV-04 is derived from Intergraph's 'DesignReview' plant design package. Neither of them involve texturing (I'm open to correction on any of this).

It does apear that Intergraph are careful in the choice of results they publicise and thoese they exclude.

Your opening paragraph indicates an involvement/interest in Alias|Wavefront's software. In which case, the AWadvs-01 benchmark, which is derived from Alias|Wavefronts Advanced Visualizer may be more important to you.

On the subject of Alias|Wavefront, I'm not in a position to comment upon Maya or any of their software products.

The texture capacity of Impact/Octane can be a problem for some applications. The very high bandwidths inside Octane mean you can start to treat it like a cache - but like any kind of cache it only performs well with cache friendly applications.

I should point out that the opinions presented above are my own, and don't represent my employer. Any inacuracies are genuine mistakes on my part.

Regards

Andrew
