Hey, don't harsh my mellow! Fans here are relieved that the Cubs signed either Darvish or Arrieta. We don't have any excusing now not to contend for the WS. Hope you are well. A friend loaned me a book on CD. It's Tom Verducci's book The Cubs Way: The Zen of Building the Best Team in Baseball and Breaking the Curse. It's enthralling. I can't wait to get in my car and listen. I'm certain you would enjoy it. Verducci goes into great detail about Maddon's lineup card, how they scout for players, strategy, each player's and executive's background and story, and funny stories. There's a lot of "blast from the past" names too. It's about much more than just the Cubs. It's about building a team, the mechanics of making a trade or signing a free agent. I'll never look at a baseball game the same. Highly recommend. amazon.com
