Anyone think the strong push in advertising since the first of the year for MSL online will make a difference? I mean did JD Powers and Associates really rate it #1? or did MSFt pay for that?

I think it will. I was impressed by the ads as I posted 2 or 3 weeks ago. JD Powers and Associates rating it #1 would produce incredible results. I think their rates are about the same as AOL.
I tried both AOL and MSN about 10 months ago --- they both were lousy. I have been told AOL Canada and MSN Canada are both a lot better now. I think both had problems in Canada. I might swith over to MSN from AT&T.
Imagine how getting an online customer affects the number of hits MSN gets as well (every time you turn on your computer). This is the big reason for this push to get on line customers. I don't think they care about making a profit from the monthly on line service. They are more interested in e commerce -- want MSN to be place to do your business.
Like I said before, MSN and MSN Internet Access looks like a great on-line effort by Microsoft (for a change). I think the results will prove this-- once they are released. I hope we get an independent report on what sites had the most hits-- expecting to see big gains in MSN.
If the internet stocks line AOL and Yahoo remain high, a strong case could be made for MSFT to go to a somewhat higher PE (maybe 80 or so).
When the earnings come out, watch for the company to say how well MSN did in the quarter
To everyone --- when did these ads first start appearing on TV?
