" I agree with your general sentiment (being a libertarian for 30 years), but we private citizens don't have laws saying we can't meet with certain people if we own stock in certain companies. I would be curious, and will probably do some research, to find out just under which provisions of the Constitution public officials are exempted from some taxes in this way. I would have assumed they were not exempt...I don't recall any lines on my 1040 form saying "If exempted from taxes by virtue of being a government lackey, skip this section and go directly to Line 93." --Tim May
