RESEARCH ALERT-Network Appliance forecasts upped

NEW YORK, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank Alex Brown on Thursday said its analyst Phil Rueppel its raised earnings estimates for data storage device maker Network Appliance (NTAP) Corp.

-- Raised fiscal year 2000 EPS estimate to $0.73 from $0.67.

-- Raised fiscal year 2001 EPS estimate to $1.05 from $0.90.

-- Raised second quarter 2000 EPS estimate to $0.17 from $0.16.

-- Raised fiscal year 2000 revenue estimate to $493 million from $465 million.

-- Raised fiscal year 2001 revenue estimate to $725 million from $680 million.

-- Set a new price target of $66.

-- said: "We continue to view NTAP as a core Internet-infrastructure play, as more 'dot.com' sites see the value of high-performance storage. Not only does this trend show that Network Appliance is in the sweet-spot of demand, but we believe it gives them greater visibility through year-end as these new e-commerce and Internet applications are less vulnerable to any Y2K demand disruptions."

NEW YORK, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers said on Thursday it raised its earnings estimates on data storage device maker Network Appliance (NTAP) Corp.

-Raised its fiscal year 2000 EPS estimate to $0.71 from $0.68 and its second quarter 2000 earnings to $0.17.

-- Set its fiscal year 2001 EPS estimate at $1.00.
-- Raised its price target to $65 from $60.
-- Reiterated its 2 outperform rating.

-Said "the outlook for storage products including filers and NetCache remains bright, and we expect Network Appliance to maintain its leadership position in the market."
