Hi Gary, the 3270 terminal just wasn't sexy enough to be located in every room, every home, every corporate center, etc. etc. etc. Also, lacks basic portability between devices. No protocols to let you transport between devices. With 3270, you had to run to Mom or Dad the mainframe - and get in queue. One centralized processor, versus many processors.
