I just received this from Shawn's mother. I also have had my fill, for this lifetime, of a manipulative spouse ( my first wife ). So I guess this is why I have empathy for Shawn.

Greg: Just got to read the message today. My first inclination as a
mother was to be very upset and angry w/Shawn for first of all marrying
her after the terrible way she has treated him over the past few months,
doing drugs and the party scene. He has never been a part of these
things. But he thinks he can help her.
She seems to have a manipulating spirit of which I can easily see and
don't play into her hands when she has tried it w/me. I lived 17 yrs w/a
controlling, manipulative spirit in my ex and can easily sense it with
others.
After the hurt wore off a little, I realized as the message stated, that
if I don't hold to them and continue to be a christian light, I will
lose them, espically my son. So I will continue to be a strong
christian witness to them and continue to pray for them daily without
pushing them into a decision to turn their lives back to God. I want him
to deal w/them and not me. And as a mother, this is sometimes hard. I
need wisdom and knowledge to lead them back.
Continue to pass their names along to your prayer partners and lets
rejoice when the deliverance comes.
