No one died in a scheduled commercial flight this year. Air travel is phenomenally safer than it was 20 or 40 years ago. It's just no longer fun.

20014 would have been far worse had they included Russia shooting down the Malaysian Air flight, but it does include Malaysia flight 370 whose captain flew to parts unknown.
