<<See, it's easy to come up with useless analogies.>>

That is true, but it is undeniable that if the Apple detractors put their money where their mouths are (went short) they got richer, and if the Apple supporters did the same (got long) they lost their shirts.

So you cannot say that both analogies have the same status. One is based on reality, the other is groundless.

How much money you have lost on Apple for the last few years? How much money would you have made if you had bought Intel and Microsoft instead?

About this latest stuff of fast PowerPC processors: There was similar hype when the PowerPC first came out. It was supposed to blow away anything Intel could make. Look what happened since then.

Please do not conclude that I am a reincarnation of Darth Vader or that I sold my soul to Wintel. I do not own Intel or Microsoft stock (unfortunately), and I am no longer short Apple. I just cannot believe that people in this thread still keep touting Apple as hot stuff. If you guys really care for the company you should be criticizing its management for the multiple mistakes made in the last few years. Do you think that dreams of grandeur will get Apple out of this hole? Haven't you realized that Apple's competitors are smart, cunning, and have very deep pockets? While you are dreaming they are working hard to beat Apple. While Apple was coming out with fancy gadgets like the Newton they were steadily improving their products. While ten years ago the Mac was vastly superior to DOS/Intel machines, today it is definitely inferior (no preemptive multitasking or memory protection) Be humble, admit that Apple sc****d up, and that it no longer has the technological lead. Evaluate soberly Apple's strenghts and weaknesses. Then Apple would have a chance. The path of hype and golden dreams leads to disaster.
