have no experience with W2000 except that I helped a buddy uninstall it and reinstall W98 ....

he was/is using 4 monitors and was so very displeased with 2000 that he chunked it ...

but I have had a similar problem which you describe in the past on several boxes I've built ...
and every time the difficulty was caused by insufficient mem residing on the video card ...
couple of the v/cards had room for add mem ... this was a good while back and with the newer ones I upgraded to another with more mem .....

of course, you've probably already know this but I did think I'd just mention it ...
