There will always be some problems and if we are doing a good job and the problems are still significant there will always be some progress. My comment was more about things going to far to the environmentalist side politically and in the media. If you oppose things like fining a man for shooting a threatening grizzly bear on his land, or support a strong property rights you are some sort of fringe ogre

Tim, last week, a woman and her child were hiking in the mts in northern WA. Suddenly, a black bear about the size of a St Bernard began to follow them...for good reason, the mother became distraught and decided to put her child down on the ground and cover him. The bear came over to them, whacked the mother once on the head and when she did not move, went on his way. The mother required stitches and reported the incident to authorities. Immediately, sheriff deputies went into the mt. area and shot the bear.

When the mother heard she was even more distraught then when she was attacked. The bear was not fully grown, had been curious and probably wanted to play. If the bear had wanted the mother and child dead, they would be. But for the deputies it was an excuse to go out hunting. They could have captured the bear and released him in a more desolate area but they did not.

Its not the end of world but its pretty sad. Another animal was killed for less than good reason. Even the mother would have preferred that the bear had been captured and not shot. So when you get freaked out because a man may not be allowed to shoot an animal on his/her property, there are reasons why that is.
