Of course KM progress will determine the fate of AXC's price in the medium run, but just to mention a couple not impossible pies in the sky.....
Gus, those 200 to 750+ million EMC, one year, open storage system growth figures were courtesy of Value Line - and are driving EMC's growth at present. Mainframe storage growth is slow. Though of course the DST has been aimed at oil service, video, and archival and backup demands ... and Ampex has not before tried to sell it as the prime device serving an open storage network - its edges in capacity and price are considerable. And if reliability and speed disadvantages can be addressed, the DST may well commend itself to some worthwhile market share in that rapidly growing territory. Something to muse about for the long term anyway.
Also, with HDTV - consumers are eventually going to need ultra high definition VCRs. Perhaps recordable DVDs will serve, but perhaps not. There are of course several digital recorders around right now. The best of those may still be the DCT. It'd be awfully interesting if some of the DCT patents find their way someday into a widespread consumer product. Something to muse about ... as keepered media sings its gradually developing song.
