CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2001--Oncolytics (TSE:ONC.)

Oncolytics Biotech Inc. (TSE:ONC.) today reported its financial results for the year ended December 31, 2000.
Total loss for the year ended December 31, 2000 was $3,613,152 or $0.22 per share compared to a loss of $574,462 or $0.10 per share for the previous year. The increase in losses from 1999 was primarily driven by increased research and development expenses associated with the commencement and continuation of Phase I human clinical trials, and milestone payments to the founding shareholders resulting from commitments under the original share purchase agreement.
The Company reported $310,000 in Revenues for the year ended December 31, 2000 from a payment received for rights associated with a licensing agreement. No similar revenues were received in 1999. The Company also recorded interest income of $905,690 in 2000 ($2,909 in 1999) resulting from significantly higher cash and investment balances in the year.
