The Echo Chamber

-- Jayson

As someone who has spent his entire life in and around big cities, I’ve always been struck by the extent to which I’ve personally observed liberals operating within the confines of self-perpetuating mental echo chambers.

You see, folks, liberals attend cocktail parties with other liberals. They interact with other liberals in the news rooms in which they work. They interact with other liberals in faculty rooms. They pontificate with other liberals in classrooms.

They rarely are exposed to other points of view. And when they are, they have a tendency instantly to dismiss those viewpoints – mostly on account of their own inflated senses of righteousness.

Focusing now on the liberal media, the inevitable result of their worldview cocoon is more than hyperbole or a zeal for ratings or for moral victories. It’s that conundrum of sheer detachment with which we’ve become so familiar since the left’s political parent company began disintegrating in earnest – 25 years ago.

To bring this into perspective, check out some of the recent Katrina-related stories (really, quasi-editorials) and overt editorials from partisan-liberal Democrat media sources:

1. From Knight Ridder. (Philly Inquirer, Miami Herald, etc.)

2. From Reuters.

3. From the Associated de-Press-ed.

4. From USA Today.

5. From the Washington Post.

6. From the Los Angeles Times.

Echo, echo, echo, echo, echo, echo.

And people wonder, don’t they, why the left-wing version of the Democrat Party has lost so many major elections, despite the FDR blocs, the corpse and felon blocs, their control over academia, and conservative fecklessness?

Well, the answers are right there.

Keep in mind the national media *is* the current version of the Democrat Party, and vice-versa.

It’s tough to prevail in the game of politics when you literally can’t discern what normal people want to hear from you.
