If You Only Read One Thing This Week, Make It This

If you only read one thing this week, make it this essay.
(Note: I posted this essay on this thread yesterday. I highly
recommend you read it all)

I am not sure what I can add to the observations and commentary in “Tribes” except that I had similar thoughts when watching MSNBC’s coverage of the people at the Convention Center in New Orleans. I first want to make clear that I am often very emotional and can even get emotional to the point at times that I am a bit worthless. If I were at that Convention Center or at the Superdome with a child to feed and no food or water in sight, I honestly don’t know how I would have reacted.

I do know that if I was not tending a small child or a sick or elderly person, I would be looking for some way to help, and I did not see any of that in the news coverage. I am sure that there were those there that were doing what they could to help themselves and others, but evidently that does not make for a sensational news story. I do know that there were some there, captured in interviews and on video, that were NOT doing anything to help themselves or others. If you know which group you would have been in, then read Bill Whittle’s piece and find out to which tribe you belong.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin has posted several links to other good articles on this topic.
