I thought the best they could do is retreat under darkness from Bakhmut, let the Russians come in from all sides, let them concentrate, shell the fuck out of them, then attack with their new tanks.

But what do I know... I haven't been in anything like that. The Russian commanders might be too smart to be lulled into that kind of thing.

Seems to me though, the Ukrainians are more likely to trap Russians like we got trapped a Khe Sanh or the French got trapped at Dien Bien Phu. They're more motivated and willing, most of the Russian motivation is survival.

Invaders are always at a disadvantage in a guerilla type war because they don't have intimate knowledge of the area or a passionate reason to risk their asses.
