Pocotrader, the key to ending this war will be supply chains. That's one key thing I learned about warfare and why the ratio of support personnel to front-line troops in the American military is 4:1.
Logistics win wars.
Having the bigger gun, the bigger tank, or the faster plane helps, but none of that matters if you can't fuel them, supply them, and maintain them.
That's why RuZZia's initial assault on Kyiv failed. Ukrainian resistance was fiercer than expected, which helped cause the RuZZian logistics pipeline to break down.
There's even an argument that RuZZia chose to focus on Bakhmut not because of any strategic significance, but because it was the easiest target to go after from a logistical viewpoint, and RuZZia desperately needed the symbolic victory.
Finally, there's something to be said about RuZZia's "cannon fodder" tactics. Because of their problems with supply, they need to prioritize supplying and preserving their professional soldiers who have the combat experience. Hence it's easier for them to send the "mobliks" and their convicts to die as "cannon fodder," rather than supply them and give them everything they need to survive.
It's not a good long-term strategy, but if it gives them short-term results, perhaps they can spin this into propaganda that makes NATO think it's futile to continue supplying Ukraine.
