Let me be clear....Are there ANY non-NEA people on the curriculum panel that you are on for your district in CA?

Here, in my district, my understanding is the panel of educators makes recommendations to the school board members and they are accepted or not.

In the district I spoke of earlier, where I visited 3 of the schools, I was told by one of the teachers, that the NEA was trying to eliminate hours from the American History studies curriculum because it wasn't "inclusive" enough of all the students.... At that time, that particular school had kids that spoke 27 languages....Today, I understand that same school now contends with 37 different languages.

In the 2 private schools I visited at the time, American History was a stable subject.

Ditto with HomeSchooling.....5 years ago in WA, there were 57,000+ kids being home-schooled. My guess is the number is rising.
